Today we are going back in time to the 1850’s to visit the heritage of America - Native American Indians.
A couple of weeks or so ago I received a request from Tony, one of our Premium Subscriber community. Here’s what he said…
“… I am Mescalero Apache Indian, and have been taking a shot at generating native-themed images with varying degrees of luck.
Would you consider doing a 'Cowboys and Indians' week? …”
Whilst the subject can be a tad sensitive to some, I thought it was a great idea. I asked Tony to send me some images from his collection of photographs (genuine photo’s not our MJ kinda photos!), and he obliged. I then set about creating a prompt to recreate the images. It was going to be difficult because the photographs just ooze pride!
Mescalero Apache
The Mescalero Apache are a Native American tribe that originated from the Southwest region of the United States, specifically from the areas of New Mexico and West Texas. They are one of the 10 major Apache tribes, which also include the Chiricahua, Jicarilla, and Lipan Apache, among others.
The Mescalero Apache were historically a nomadic tribe, known for their hunting and raiding skills. They lived off the land and utilized natural resources to make their living. They had a strong warrior culture and were known for their fierce resistance against Spanish, Mexican, and American forces.
In the 1800s, the Mescalero Apache were forcibly relocated to reservations by the US government. Today, they have a reservation located in south-central New Mexico, where they continue to maintain their cultural traditions, including language, art, and ceremonial practices. The Mescalero Apache are known for their traditional dances, particularly the Mountain Spirit Dance, which is performed in honor of their ancestors and the natural world.
